I am so very honoured and grateful to become a Nikon Ambassador, it is a pinch myself moment.
Please give a warm welcome our new #NikonAmbassador, legendary music and portrait photographer @scarletpage!
A true Nikon devotee, Scarlet has been using Nikon cameras throughout her entire career spanning 25 years, during which she has worked with a number of famous artists such as The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and more.
Read our mini interview below to get to know Scarlet and her work:
Q: How did you get into photography?
I studied a BA Hons in Photography, Film and Video at the University of Westminster and then assisted a music photographer, in the early 1990’s for 18 months. It was a really exciting time where I was flown all over the world to assist on shots of upcoming bands such as Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.
Q: Who and what inspires you with your work?
I love to let a shoot unwind organically and work on the connection with my subject. I go into every shoot imagining that they hate being photographed as much as I do so I try to make it as painless as possible. I always come away with a memory too, it is impossible to say which has been my favourite shoot as they are all unique experiences! I get as much out of small charity sessions as when I shot Keith Richards.
Q: What is it like to shoot with your current kit?
I recently took the plunge into the world of mirrorless and bought my Z9. It sounds like a cliche but it really does help me do my job better!! Especially with the 3D focus, I don’t miss a thing anymore.
Here are Scarlet’s top 3 #photographytips:
Always have a back up camera, cards and batteries.
Do your homework on your subject and be prepared, have a loose shooting plan.
Be prepared to be spontaneous and seize the moments that way.
